March Diaries!

March Diaries!

March was another busy month here for box frames and wooden gifts aplenty in particular for the boys!

This month I decided I wanted to upgrade my Website to include an Add to Cart Shop.  This will streamline the whole order and payment process to make things a lot easier going forward.  You can read all about this here and also why I am discontinuing some products from my craft range but introducing a whole new range of Gifts and Homewares to my shop.

This Wicker Chair was my Reloved by Jessica Project for March using Rust-Oleum Spray Paint!  So if you want to see the before pic and read all about the upcycle process head on over here.

On Wednesday 1st March, I was delighted to be invited up to St. Aloysius College Carrigtwhoill to give a talk to the Fourth Year Students all about my Business and Blog.  I was completely flattered (and a bit shocked!) to be approached by Rose Goggin and the Girls on the school bank team to speak at their Career Day!

The Bank Fairy are taking part in the AIB Build a Bank Challenge this year and I really hope they win!  I made a sign for them to place on their table during the competition and they very kindly presented me with bouquet of flowers from Bloomsday Flowers.  The girls have also created a fantastic Social Media campaign to highlight their chosen charity The Make-A-Wish Foundation.  I did the #makeawishchallenge here on Instagram where you upload a photo, video or Boomerang of yourself making a wish, nominate your friends and text MYWISH to 50300 to donate €4 – go do it now it’s such a worthy cause!

On Saturday 4th March I was lucky enough to be chosen as one of 20 VIP Bloggers to attend the first ever #corkfashiontrail Event around Cork City!  We were treated to a VIP Bloggers Breakfast and Lunch, brought around to some fabulous Fashion Retail Stores and finished off a great day with a Wrap Party at the Clayton Hotel.  We were completely spoiled everywhere we went with lots of goodies, merchandise, discounts, food and cocktails!  Read all about our amazing day here!

On Friday 10th March as part of Local Enterprise Week 2017, I attended the Let’s Talk Business Seminar in the Mall Arts Centre in Youghal.  We were treated to a whole host of speakers including; MC on the day – JJ O’Connell, National Director & Co-Chair of Family Business Ireland and of the Plato Ireland Business Network, Ciara McGee from the Local Enterprise Office South Cork, Adrian Hyde of Munster Brewery, Martin Corkery of Enterprise Ireland, John Finn from Treasury Solutions, Ellen Ryan and Mary Barry from AIB Bank Youghal, Stephen Dudley of Failte Ireland, Paul Sutton from Cork County Council & Economic Development, Edel Smiddy from the South & East Cork Area Development, Annie Murphy of Annie’s Roasts, Colm Geary from Youghal Credit Union, Deirdre Parkinson from Micro Finance Ireland and John Madigan from the Strategic Banking Corporation of Ireland.

It was an informative morning highlighting funding, financing and mentoring opportunities for Start Up Businesses and Business wishing to expand and grow.  There are apparently a lot of supports available which I was not aware of beforehand.  I particularly enjoyed the two case studies by Adrian and Annie who each spoke about their successful businesses.

I applied to the Local Enterprise Office South Cork for the Mentor Support Programme on the 1st March and was approved for mentoring support on the 3rd March.  I am really looking forward to meeting my assigned Mentor and putting my business ideas into action!

Dress is from Bella in Dungarvan and the gorgeous Michelle of MichelleHMUA did my Face!

On St. Patrick’s Day I attended my friend’s Wedding in Kinsale.  I had the pleasure of wearing a Harper’s Hats Headpiece which was custom made by Lesley to match my dress.  While some the the male guests were asking me for the WIFI code for my hat (too funny!) a lot of ladies were coming over to admire it, so it was also a great conversation piece!  If you have a wedding coming up or are planning to go along to the Races this Summer, I would highly recommend getting in touch with Lesley and Patsy of Harper’s Hats to create a stunning Bespoke Headpiece just for you.

On 25th March, I announced the very exciting news that I would be opening a Retail Store in Youghal offering Unique Gifts and Homewares.  Here is where you can read that announcement and see when the Grand Opening will be taking place!!

If you are planning a trip to Youghal by the Sea anytime soon, please do pop in to 105 North Main Street and say Hello!

On Thursday 30th March, I was treated to an overnight stay, dinner and spa treatment at the stunning Castlemartyr Resort by my Hubby for Mother’s Day.  On arrival we could not believe our luck when we received an upgrade to a Grand Suite!!  Read all about our amazing stay here!

So that was my Diary of Events for March, I am already excited (and nervous!) for April with the opening of my new Retail Store.  If you’d like to follow along on the progress of the shop head over to my Snapchat – jesterdesign for updates!
