Reloved – Wicker Chair

Reloved – Wicker Chair

Wicker Chair – Before

Supplies Used for this Project:

Sugar Soap

Rust-Oleum Surface Primer Matt Finish

Rust-Oleum Mode Ultra High Gloss Enamel – Celeste

Protective Face Mask

Drop Cloth or Old Sheet

I washed my Chair with Sugar Soap to remove any dirt and grime and allowed to dry.  Putting on a Protective Face Mask I applied the Spray Primer directly to the chair using long even strokes.  Preferably this should be done outside or at least in a very well ventilated area indoors using a Drop Cloth or Old Sheet to protect surrounding areas
I then turned the chair upside down and sprayed the primer on all visible areas
Allow to dry for at least 20 minutes before applying your chosen top coat
Wicker Chair after one coat of the Rust-Oleum Mode in the colour Celeste

For this project, I emptied both tins of the Spray Primer and Celeste Spray Paint for one coat each resulting in the natural weave showing through the chair, which I personally like!  If you are looking for a more solid finish then you should apply a second coat, however, this could work out quite expensive when purchasing several tins of Spray Paint.

You could also use Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint, Rust-Oleum All Surface Paint or Rust-Oleum Satin Finish Furniture Paint applied with a Round Bristle Brush or Shaving Brush, depending on what your preferred finish is!

Fitting in nicely with my Bedroom Decor, I styled my chair with a matching throw and cushion!
